Ananta Nova City Guide — Exploring Ananta's Open World

Everything we know about Nova City — Ananta's open-world setting. Districts, traversal systems, activities, and exploration tips based on trailers and beta footage.

Nova City — Ananta Open World

⚠️ Pre-launch article — based on beta and official previews. Updated regularly as new information is released.

What Is Nova City?

Nova City — officially called Nova Inception Urbs — is the open-world setting of Ananta — a sprawling, futuristic metropolis that serves as both the backdrop for the game’s story and the playground for its exploration systems. It is where humanity lives alongside growing threats to the city’s stability, and where your character operates as part of a response force keeping it from fracturing.

Visually, Nova City is a stunning blend of contemporary architecture and near-future technology: glass skyscrapers reflecting neon signs, dense urban streets alive with pedestrians, elevated rail systems cutting through the skyline, and darker back alleys hiding secrets and urban dangers. It’s a city that feels lived-in — not a fantasy dungeon, but a place people actually inhabit.

The scale appears substantial. Based on beta footage and official trailers, Nova City encompasses multiple distinct districts with their own visual identity, atmosphere, and types of activities. The city is designed to be explored vertically as well as horizontally — height is a gameplay dimension, not just scenery.

Known Districts

Full district details will be confirmed at launch. Based on what’s been shown in trailers and beta footage, Nova City includes several distinct zones:

Paradox Plaza — The commercial and entertainment heart of Nova City. Bright lights, crowds, and a dense urban grid make this the game’s most visually iconic district. Street surfing and traversal challenges appear prominently here. Enemy encounters in this district tend toward Elite-class threats.

Glimmergold — Confirmed in official materials as another key location in Nova City. Further details TBA.

Dream Garden — A confirmed establishment in Nova City, known for its maid-style service. A popular spot among residents.

Outer districts and industrial zones — The outskirts of Nova City appear darker, more industrial, and host higher concentrations of enemy activity. These feel like the game’s equivalent of wilderness areas — less populated, more dangerous, and richer in exploration rewards.

Additional districts have been hinted at in marketing material but not fully revealed. We’ll fill in this section as more information is confirmed.

More Cities Coming

Nova Inception Urbs is just the first city in Ananta. Additional cities inspired by European and American locales are planned, each with their own distinct districts, atmosphere, and activities. Details on future cities are TBA.

Traversal: How Movement Works in Nova City

Nova City is built for the way Ananta’s characters move. This is not a game where traversal is an obstacle — it’s a feature.

Core movement mechanics confirmed or shown in footage:

  • Sprint and dash — Basic ground movement with a short-cooldown directional dash. Chaining dashes lets you cover ground quickly and dodge incoming attacks.
  • Wall-running — Many surfaces support brief wall traversal. You can run along walls to reach ledges, cross gaps, or reposition mid-combat.
  • Rail-grinding — Nova City’s elevated rail infrastructure is interactive. Grinding along rails is fast, visually spectacular, and connects elevated areas across the map.
  • Grappling — A grapple mechanic for quickly ascending buildings or crossing long horizontal distances. Appears to be a standard part of the toolkit rather than a character-specific ability.
  • Gliding — A controlled descent for getting down from heights safely. Not a full flight mechanic — more of a fall-management tool that can be steered.
  • Character-unique movement abilities — Some characters have traversal skills tied to their kit that others don’t. This creates meaningful variety beyond just combat roles when building your team.

The real magic of Ananta’s traversal is chaining these mechanics. Walking between objectives is never the intended approach — the game is designed to reward players who find and maintain flow state while moving through the city.

Open World Activities

Nova City is filled with content beyond the main story. Based on beta footage and comparable titles, expect:

Enemy Encounters — Enemies spawn throughout the city in varying densities. Common enemies roam freely; Elite enemies are tougher encounters worth hunting; Bosses are set-piece fights with specific locations. All reward upgrade materials.

Side Quests and NPC Stories — Nova City’s residents have storylines that unfold through side missions. These expand the world’s lore and are expected to reward in-game resources.

Exploration Collectibles — Hidden caches, environmental puzzles, and collectible items are distributed throughout the city. Thorough explorers are rewarded with in-game resources and lore.

Traversal Challenges — Time trials, parkour courses, and movement challenges appear designed around Nova City’s architecture. Completing these rewards bonus resources and showcases what the traversal system can do at its highest level.

Relationship System — Ananta includes a relationship mechanic with certain NPCs and characters. Spending time and completing specific interactions deepens these relationships and unlocks unique story content and rewards.

City Interaction — Nova City is built for tangible interactivity. Confirmed activities include snooping through NPCs’ phones, joining street races, petting stray cats, joining impromptu raves, and triggering gang clashes. NPCs follow their own daily routines, making the city feel genuinely alive.

Day/Night Cycle and Weather

Based on official trailers, Nova City has a dynamic day/night cycle that significantly changes the city’s atmosphere. The neon-lit nighttime version of Nova City is visually distinct from its daytime appearance — darker streets, glowing signage, and a more atmospheric mood.

Whether weather effects (rain, fog) are present in the final game has not been officially confirmed. Some beta footage suggests rain effects exist, which would make the city’s reflective surfaces and street lighting even more striking. We’ll confirm this at launch.

Exploration Tips

Go vertical first. The most rewarding exploration in Nova City happens at height. The moment you reach a new district, look up — rooftops, elevated platforms, and rail systems are where hidden collectibles and traversal challenges concentrate.

Explore outward from story missions. Story missions naturally walk you through the main arteries of each district. Once you’ve cleared a mission, explore the surrounding blocks you passed through but didn’t stop in.

Track your completion. The game likely includes a mini-map or district completion tracker. Use it. In dense urban environments, it’s easy to miss entire subsections of a district that you flew past during story missions.

Return to areas after leveling up. Some enemy encounters in the city are level-gated. If an area seemed too dangerous early on, come back later — the rewards will still be there.

Follow the rail systems. The elevated rail infrastructure of Nova City is both a traversal shortcut and a guide to the city’s structure. Rail lines connect districts; following them will naturally reveal fast travel points, secret platforms, and shortcuts you’d otherwise miss.
