Ananta Release Date — Everything We Know So Far

No official date confirmed yet, but here's everything we know about Ananta's launch window, platform rollout, and how to get notified the moment it drops.

⚠️ Pre-launch article — based on beta and official previews. Updated regularly as new information is released.

When Is Ananta Releasing?

As of July 2026, no official release date has been confirmed for Ananta. NetEase’s Naked Rain has indicated a 2026 window, but a specific day has yet to be announced. Ananta did not appear at Summer Game Fest 2026, so the next event windows to watch are ChinaJoy 2026 (July 31 – August 3) and Tokyo Game Show 2026.

This isn’t unusual for a game of this scale. Ananta is a cross-platform, free-to-play open-world action RPG — the kind of title that requires extensive server infrastructure, region-specific regulatory approvals, and a coordinated global rollout. Naked Rain has been transparent about wanting to get it right before committing to a hard date.

What Platforms Will Launch First?

Ananta is confirmed for PC, iOS, Android, PS5, and cloud gaming. Whether all platforms launch simultaneously is not yet confirmed. Many live-service RPGs in this genre do a staggered rollout — PC first, then mobile shortly after — but Ananta could go simultaneous across all platforms.

Xbox: Not confirmed. PS5 is officially confirmed — see our Platforms Guide for full details.

A Brief Timeline: Project Mugen → Ananta

Understanding where Ananta came from helps set expectations for where it’s headed:

  • 2021 — First revealed under the working title Project Mugen. Immediately generated buzz for its anime-style open-world urban setting and fluid parkour gameplay. The game’s Nova City setting captivated fans of the genre.
  • 2022–2024 — Closed alpha and beta testing phases. Gameplay footage circulated widely, showcasing the enemy combat system, character collection mechanics, and Nova City’s explorable districts.
  • 2025 — Official rebranding to Ananta at TGS 2025, accompanied by a new trailer revealing expanded systems: a relationship mechanic, refined character designs, and a deeper look at the game’s progression and monetization structure.
  • Early 2026 — Pre-registration opens on the official website; a closed technical test runs in January. Release still expected within the year.
  • Mid 2026 — Ananta is a no-show at Summer Game Fest 2026 (June 5–8). Still no dated launch window; attention turns to ChinaJoy (July 31 – Aug 3) and TGS in the fall.

The rename from Project Mugen to Ananta was significant. “Ananta” means “infinite” in Sanskrit — fitting for an open world designed around endless exploration and replayability.

Our Take

The jump from Project Mugen’s early footage to the TGS 2025 reveal was substantial — Naked Rain has clearly been iterating hard. A 2026 launch remains realistic, and with pre-registration now live, the final push seems to be underway. The long development cycle has generally been a good sign for quality.

We’ll update this page the moment an official release date is confirmed. In the meantime, get your pre-registration in on the official site, and come back here for everything you need on day one.
