TGS 2026 ran September 17–21, 2026 at Makuhari Messe and closes today. A NetEase representative said on the record that Ananta’s second map would be shown there — in a gamescom interview published three days before the show opened. What has not appeared is anything on the TGS side of it: no exhibition announcement on Ananta’s own news page, no booth number, no show coverage. Both halves are below, and they do not match.

When is Tokyo Game Show 2026?

The 30th Tokyo Game Show ran September 17–21, 2026 at Makuhari Messe in Chiba — the show’s longest run yet at five days. September 17–18 were business days; September 19–21 were public days, and September 21 is the closing day.

The mid-month slot mattered for this game: it put TGS four weeks after gamescom rather than in the usual late-September window, which is why the release date landed in Cologne and TGS was left as a follow-up beat rather than the reveal.

Is Ananta confirmed for Tokyo Game Show 2026?

Half of it is, and the halves do not agree.

What NetEase said

In an interview conducted at gamescom and published by AUTOMATON on September 14, 2026 — three days before TGS opened — a NetEase representative was asked which city the gamescom demo covered. The answer named Chongxiao, then added, of the other city: at Tokyo Game Show they would be showing the Nova City map.

「gamescomのデモでは重霄のマップが収録されており、こちらは実際の上海と杭州などから着想を得て制作しました。東京ゲームショウでは「新啓」のマップを披露しますよ

⚠️ Two notes on reading that. The original is Japanese and the English above is our rendering, not a quotable English original. And 新啓 is the city this site calls Nova City — the pairing is first-party in English, from @Ananta_EN on August 25: “We can’t wait to see you in Chongxiao and Nova City on January 15th, 2027!”

This retires what this page said all summer. Through July and August the honest answer was that nothing official placed Ananta at TGS 2026 and everything circulating was fan anticipation. That is no longer the situation: a NetEase representative said it, on the record, in a published interview.

What did not follow

For TGS 2025, NetEase announced the appearance twice on its own channels — a September 9 post on anantagame.com and a September 16 press release giving the booth as Hall 6-C06 — and the Japanese games press covered the demo in volume, from Famitsu to 4Gamer to Dengeki.

For TGS 2026 none of that equivalent material exists. Checked on the show’s closing day:

Where we lookedTGS 2025TGS 2026
Ananta’s official Japanese news pageTwo postsNothing — the 2025 pair are still the only TGS items listed
Published booth numberHall 6-C06None
Japanese and English press coverageHeavyNone found

Meanwhile the whole September Japanese press cycle for Ananta is about gamescom, not TGS — the hands-on previews published between August 27 and September 14 all cover the Chongxiao build shown in Cologne.

So what does this page conclude?

No showing found — which is not the same as confirmed absent, and the distinction carries more weight here than it usually does.

「披露します」 covers a booth, a trailer, a stage segment or a stream equally well, so the statement never promised a show floor presence in the first place. And a NetEase representative saying it is a far stronger prior than the community guesswork this page was tracking in July. What is missing is corroboration that it happened; absence of evidence in coverage is weak evidence, and it is weakest for formats that leave no booth number behind.

Recent reveal history

  • TGS 2025 — Ananta was playable at Tokyo Game Show 2025

  • January 2026 — Closed technical beta ran

  • Summer Game Fest 2026 (June 5–8) — Ananta did not appear

  • Bilibili World 2026 (July 10–13) — appeared on an AMD partner booth with re-edited footage. Full breakdown

  • ChinaJoy 2026 (July 31 – August 3)closed with no showing found. Not a named exhibitor, and absent from both the NetEase and PlayStation booth line-ups. Full record

  • gamescom 2026 (August 26–30)the big one. Opening Night Live on August 25 gave the game a release date of January 15, 2027, a Launch Date Trailer, a live Steam page and pre-registration on every platform. A closed-door Chongxiao build was played by press in the Business Area, and the previews ran through mid-September. Full record

That is what changed the stakes for TGS. The single most-asked question about this game was answered four weeks before the show opened, which is why the section above matters more than it looks: the one thing TGS was said to be bringing was the other city, the one gamescom did not show.

What we’re watching for

This section used to list what a TGS appearance might deliver. Most of it has since been delivered elsewhere — scoring it honestly:

What we listedOutcome
A global release date or launch windowJanuary 15, 2027 — answered at gamescom, not here
A new gameplay trailer or extended demo✅ Launch Date Trailer and a playable Chongxiao build, both at gamescom
A second beta announcement and sign-up detailsStill nothing. A game dated for mid-January with no test announced leaves a narrow window
New playable characters beyond the confirmed roster➖ Yinglong was shown in the gamescom build; no roster additions announced at TGS

The open question is the beta, and it is the one item on this list that TGS could still have moved and — as far as anything published shows — did not.

Live update log

  • 2026-09-21TGS 2026 closes today, and this page’s summer answer is now wrong in both directions. It said no official announcement placed Ananta at TGS 2026. One does: in an interview conducted at gamescom and published by AUTOMATON on September 14, a NetEase representative said the Nova City map would be shown at Tokyo Game Show — verbatim, 「東京ゲームショウでは「新啓」のマップを披露しますよ」. That is first-party, on the record, three days before the doors opened. And yet nothing followed it. Ananta’s official Japanese news page still lists only its two TGS 2025 items, no booth number was published, and searches in both languages that surface the 2025 coverage immediately return nothing for 2026 — while the entire September Japanese press cycle for the game covers gamescom instead. The verdict is “no showing found,” not “confirmed absent”: 「披露します」 does not promise a show floor, and a stream or stage segment leaves no booth number to find. Two other items from the same interview are now on the site: a multiplayer mode is in development (no detail given), which updates a FAQ entry that had been answered “not confirmed” since 2023; and the no-gacha monetisation policy finally exists in a quotable text interview rather than an uncaptioned video — see the Gamescom tracker for what that resolves. Also corrected on this page: the release date is January 15, 2027, not “not confirmed” — it was answered at gamescom on August 25 and this page had not been updated since August 18.
  • 2026-08-18Ananta is confirmed for gamescom Opening Night Live on August 25 (tracker) — its first booked showcase slot since TGS 2025. That does not say anything about TGS 2026, which remains unconfirmed, but it changes what a TGS appearance would be for: if a date lands in August, September becomes a pre-launch beat rather than a reveal window.
  • 2026-08-07 — One window ahead of TGS has now closed: ChinaJoy ran July 31 – August 3 with no Ananta showing found, and nothing surfaced in the days after. That leaves the August show window and the August 20 NetEase Q2 earnings call between now and TGS. Still no confirmation of an Ananta appearance at TGS 2026.
  • 2026-07-29 — TGS 2026 dates confirmed by organizers: September 17–21 at Makuhari Messe, a five-day show for the event’s 30th edition. Still no confirmation of an Ananta appearance.
  • 2026-07-01 — Refreshed status. ChinaJoy 2026 now dated July 31 – August 3 (the nearer window); still no confirmation of an Ananta appearance at TGS 2026, and TGS 2026 dates remain to be confirmed by organizers.
  • 2026-06-10 — Page created. No confirmation of an Ananta appearance at TGS 2026. Tokyo Game Show 2026 dates not yet officially confirmed by organizers.
